Cassidy received the nation’s oldest award for service, the Jefferson Award. Jefferson Awards is a national organization which supports, encourages, and recognizes high school students who perform extraordinary service. The Jefferson Awards Foundation recognizes, inspires and activates volunteerism and public service in communities, workplaces and schools across America." The Institute was founded in 1972 by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, U.S. Senator Robert Taft, Jr. and Sam Beard. Sydney was also the recipient in 2016.
