ASISTERSPROJECT announced today the successful completion of the Project Hydr8 campaign. The project comprised of 8 clean water and service projects around the world. Cassidy received the nation’s oldest award for service, the Jefferson Award. Jefferson Awards is a national organization which supports, encourages, and recognizes high school students who perform extraordinary service. The Jefferson Awards Foundation recognizes, inspires and activates volunteerism and public service in communities, workplaces and schools across America." The Institute was founded in 1972 by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, U.S. Senator Robert Taft, Jr. and Sam Beard. Sydney was also the recipient in 2016.

The Ebenezer Bassett award honors emerging leaders who have distinguished themselves through a record of creative leadership and public service, academic distinction, interdisciplinary problem solving, and experience addressing societal issues.
The faculty in Yale’s Center for the Study of Race, Indigeneity, and Transnational Migration (RITM) established the award to honor young leaders who, like Ebenezer Bassett in the 19th century, bring under-recognized perspectives to the public sphere, think deeply about our collective futures, and exemplify intelligence and courage as they work on behalf of others.

ASISTERSPROJECT announced the successful completion of the 5forFlint campaign in partnership with the Foundation for Flint organization to benefit the Flint Child and Health Development Fund on behalf of children suffering from the water contamination crisis in the city. The project provided support to critical public health and community based interventions in order to address the long-term impact experienced by children exposed to lead in their water. “We are so grateful for the generosity of ASISTERSPROJECT and your concern for Flint’s children through your 5forFlint campaign,” stated Kathi Horton, President of Foundation for Flint.

ASISTERSPROJECT announced the completion of its recent school renovation project at the Franciscan Stigmatines in Kinshasa, The Democratic Republic of Congo which will provide a sustainable and consistent educational facility for year round study.
As a result of the renovation, children will be able to attend school the entire year ensuring on time delivery of education. During the rainy season from March until June, the school was forced to close due to its poor structural conditions and fear for the student’s safety. The renovation, which included a new roof and complete update of the structure was completed in September and is scheduled to reopen in October.
We are proud to work with the Sisters to complete this much needed project. “ said Sydney Tshimbalanga, co-founder and director of ASISTERSPROJECT. “As a student, I know how important the environment is to learning.”
